10 STEPS TO A TRULY CLEAN BATHROOM

How to clean your bathroom to a truly clean

1. Clean the showerhead

How: Pour enough white vinegar into a plastic grocery bag to completely submerge the shower head nozzle and tie it in place for an overnight soaking. Remove it in the morning and run the water to rinse.

2. Clean the shower curtain/door

How: Wash plastic shower curtains and liners with your regular detergent and a few old towels to help remove soap scum and mildew. Rehang to dry.

For shower doors, make a paste by adding some distilled white vinegar to a cup of baking soda and apply it directly to the door. Let sit for an hour, then wipe it off with a microfiber cloth. Rinse and buff dry with a fresh, dry microfiber cloth.

3. Clean the tub

How: Tubs do fine with a weekly scrubbing with whichever tub cleaner you prefer.

4. Clean the grout

How: Dip a grout brush in straight bleach and scrub any discolored areas; rinse well. Be sure to ventilate the room.

5. Clean the bathroom tile, walls and ceiling

How: Spray tile, countertops, walls, and the ceiling with an all-purpose cleaner and turn on the shower on hot until steam builds. Turn off the water, shut the door on your way out, and let the steam and the cleaner mix for about 20 minutes. Then wipe down all surfaces with a clean cloth or a microfiber mop for hard-to-reach spots.

6. Clean the toilet

How: Pour a cup of baking soda into the bowl. Brush with the toilet brush after it has been sitting for 15 minutes and flush. Close the lid when you flush, and turn on the vent fan as it will suck up bacteria before they can settle.

7. Clean the sink

How: Pour white vinegar or baking soda down the drain and run the hot water. Use disposable disinfecting wipes for the faucet and handles as that will significantly reduce bacteria.

8. Wash hand towels

How: Use the sanitizing setting if your washing machine has one (or bleach them). Replace them with clean towels every three to four days.***Don’t forget to clean the towel bars with disinfecting wipes every time you replace the towels!

9. Clean the bathroom vent

How: Make sure the vent is off (you might even want to flip the circuit breaker)! Remove the cover and soak it in warm water and dish soap. Use a vacuum to clean the fan blades; wipe them with a damp cloth. Remove dust from the motor and other nooks and crannies with a stiff, clean paintbrush, and suck up the debris with a vacuum. When it’s completely dry, replace the cover.

10. Clean the toilet brush

How: Put the brush handle between the already-cleaned seat and the bowl so that it hangs over the bowl; pour bleach over the bristles and then pour clean water over it. Next, fill the brush canister with warm, soapy water and let it sit for 15 minutes; dump the dirty water into the toilet.

Even after all this, the one thing to remember is that the best way to keep your bathroom clean is to keep it dry! As you are cleaning, make sure you dry all surfaces well.
